Yasir Arafat: Elevating Cricket Coaching Standards At Eltham College

At Eltham College, we take immense pride in fostering a cricketing culture that not only hones the skills of our young athletes but also provides them with exposure to global coaching excellence. One such driving force behind this commitment is Yasir Arafat, our Cricket Professional, who recently achieved the remarkable milestone of qualifying as an ECB Level 4 coach.
Yasir’s journey extends far beyond the boundaries of our school, reaching international arenas. He recently served as the assistant coach for Hong Kong in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, hosted in Nepal from October 28th to November 6th, 2023. The group stage witnessed spirited matches against Bahrain, UAE, and Kuwait in Group B, though, unfortunately, the team narrowly missed securing a spot in the semi-finals on run rate.
In addition to this, he will also be Head coach of Larkana Challengers in the Sindh Premier League, Pakistan. Yasir was present at the draft in October and the tournament will take place in December.
Marc Edwards, our Director of Sport, shared his enthusiasm about Yasir Arafat’s achievements, stating, “It is fantastic to support Yasir in developing his coaching experience around the world in various coaching roles, and we are keen to see this continue when other opportunities arise. It means our most talented cricketers can access some of the most up-to-date cricketing knowledge and ideas from around the world. We are very lucky to have the opportunity to work alongside an ex ODI and Test Match cricketer, and I am very pleased to see Yasir developing his coaching experience, which will only increase the reputation of Eltham College cricket.”
