Berkshire Schools Hockey Tournament | U13 Boys

Published by Cheam School on Tuesday 5th of March 2024

Last Friday, nine Year 7 and 8 boys went to Bradfield College to participate in the Berkshire Schools Hockey Tournament. The boys played against Dolphin, Furze Platt, and Holme Grange where they beat the first two schools… and drew 1-1 with the latter. This meant they finished joint top of the group and, due to being level on goal difference with Holme Grange, they had to do a penalty flick competition to decide who finished first and second.

The boys sadly lost this in sudden death 3-2, but it didn’t matter as they still qualified for  the cup draw. The boys had 3 more games against Elstree, Crosfields, and St Andrew’s where they drew 1-1, then 0-0 and then lost 1-0 respectively. This sadly meant the boys didn’t qualify for the semi-finals, but they showed great heart and determination throughout the day. They have set the standard for boys’ hockey at Cheam finishing in the top 8 in the county; they should be very proud of their achievements!
